In a time when the act of reading is changing significantly, the physical book as a mechanism for reading, is being brought into question. My practice is concerned with the future and reality of reading, the book as reading machine; and is bound up with an (imagined) escape from the page.
I will be performing a special viewing of my bookwork The Robinson Papers at Norwich's new artists' books fair Turn The Pageon 4th & 5th May; if you are around please come by, have a look, and book a free archival viewing!
I'd love to come! But I don't get back from Spain til 5th-too late, I'm afraid. But I'm meeting Angela on 28th April. Please email me if you can join us.
The Book Fair sounds like fun. Love the Robinson papers, Abigail -it's the first time I've seen it and your video performance was great - the whole time I felt guilty of peeking into someone else's private file and that you would be interrupted and caught out!
Glad you all think so. People will have to book an appointment to see the work, they get an appointment card and a time slot and have to come back when it is their time. Then they have to don the white gloves and have a set amount of time in which to experience/read the file. I will try to document it as much as I can.
28th is already in my diary; was going to email you both actually to find out where we are going... maybe I can do some research into book art related exhibitions....?
